故障指示器分为户内型和户外型,户内型安装在箱式变电站、开关柜、电缆分接箱的进出线处来判断线路短路故障，户外型主要安装于架空线路,以便操作人员迅速查找故障，减少故障停电时间，提高供电可靠性。
